Devotional: Luke 1 // Lewis Lights

And Mary said, Yes, I see it all now: I’m the Lord’s maid, ready to serve. Let it be with me just as you say. Then the angel left her. Luke 1:38 MSG

An angel came to Mary and told her she would conceive a child. She was a virgin. And this is what she said to the angel.

Are you kidding me?!

If an angel (as described in the bible as terrifying- not a fat baby) shows up to me, and tells me, your gonna get pregnant, and have a baby, and name the kiddo Jesus, and he’s gonna be the savior of the world and all…

I think I’d pass out. Or throw up. Or both.

I mean, for real!

But Mary, trusted the angel, and trusted that God would work it all out in her favor. That her soon to be husband wouldn’t leave her, and that her son would really be a savior.

Can you imagine that kind of fear? That kind of stress??

I mean, pregnancy is stressful anyway, but to have your first pregnancy to be a holy one?

Makes me wonder…

When did she feel him kick the first time?

Did she have morning sickness?

Did she crave anything weird, like manna?

Could you imagine if she fell? I fell with Judah. I was scared to death. And he’s just Judah. He’s not the savior of the world!

And after he was born- raising him. Making sure he was safe. Makings sure he didn’t fall off the couch and get a concussion!

Taking care of the savior of the world as a toddler? No thank you.

I can just imagine Mary at the pearly gates and God being all, “what about the time you let the savior of the world fall off the bed? Huh? And what about the time you had his bath water a little too hot and he cried?”

(Yeah, I’ve done both of those…)

But my kids are just Kirkley’s. They aren’t the Messiah.

But Mary said, “I’m your servant.”

We have to get a heart like hers, for real.

We have to be willing for anything.

Even scary things!

We have to trust that if God calls us to do it, he will be there with us. He’s not going to leave us hanging. He’s in it with us.

Always has been, always will be.

Life Blog

We went to see Lewis Lights last night. Lucy loved it. And really, Judah did too. He was as wide eyed as she was!

She loved the Garfield. A girl after my own heart!

Uncle Sam enjoyed it too 🙂 haha!

It was crazy packed, too. Probably because it was the 23rd. Really thankful that this family does this though!

Y’all have a safe Christmas Eve!
