So here’s what I want you to do, God helping you: Take your everyday, ordinary life—your sleeping, eating, going-to-work, and walking-around life—and place it before God as an offering. Embracing what God does for you is the best thing you can do for him. Don’t become so well-adjusted to your culture that you fit into it without even thinking. (Romans 12:1 MSG)
It’s really amazing that when you stick with something, like a devotion, how God will speak to you so clearly sometimes. I’m not sure if this is for any of you… I know it is for me.
I’ve just taken a pretty major step in my life.
I’ve accepted a job. A real job where I have to get dressed and be at “work” and out of the house and no kids.
A real job.
I haven’t had a real job in over 2 years.
Now, I know what you are thinking… Are you going to like that?
Well.. yes. I’m so stinking excited. I don’t work much – its definitely part time (I can only get 12 hours a week). I’ll be working about one day a week, some days two, and probably never past like 2pm. I’ll be helping women learn how to breastfeed their babies and teaching pregnant women about the benefits of breast feeding. I’m going to be a Lactation Specialist. Sounds fancy right?
Well.. I basically just got promoted to this, and then this verse comes up. A reminder for me.
A reminder to be a light when I’m out in the world.
There were days that I would go without seeing any strangers. Days. I would only talk to people in the grocery store and usually was so flustered trying to get two kids in and out of there I wasn’t concerned with anything but checking out.
But now, I’ll be able to go out and see lots of new people. And I have an opportunity to be a light for them. To show them Christ by my life.
And I’m very excited about it!
You have this same opportunity. Take Christ with you each time you leave. Each time you step outside the door – realize that you are representing Him, and His cause, and live that way.
We’ll do it together.
I’m not sure how this will affect my blog – and for the most part, I don’t think it will. If anything, I’d miss a day or two here and there. So, I’m not going anywhere. Not just yet anyway 🙂
