Devotional: Hebrews 10 and This week’s catchup

Let’s keep a firm grip on the promises that keep us going. He always keeps his word. Hebrews 10:23 MSG

Today will be a good blog. We are going to talk about His promises so that we can keep a firm grip on them! The devotional part will be short.. But SWEET.

So what are some promises from God to us?

Jeremiah 29:11

For I know the plans I have for you,” says the Lord. “They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope.

Matthew 11:28-29

“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.

Isaiah 40:29-31

He gives power to the weak
and strength to the powerless.
Even youths will become weak and tired,
and young men will fall in exhaustion.
But those who trust in the Lord will find new strength.
They will soar high on wings like eagles.
They will run and not grow weary.
They will walk and not faint.

Philippians 4:19

And this same God who takes care of me will supply all your needs from his glorious riches, which have been given to us in Christ Jesus.

Romans 8:37-39

No, despite all these things, overwhelming victory is ours through Christ, who loved us.

And I am convinced that nothing can ever separate us from God’s love. Neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither our fears for today nor our worries about tomorrow—not even the powers of hell can separate us from God’s love. No power in the sky above or in the earth below—indeed, nothing in all creation will ever be able to separate us from the love of God that is revealed in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Proverbs 1:33

But all who listen to me will live in peace,
untroubled by fear of harm.”

John 14:27

“I am leaving you with a gift—peace of mind and heart. And the peace I give is a gift the world cannot give. So don’t be troubled or afraid.

Romans 10:9

If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.

I honestly don’t know if there is anything else I need to say. Pretty sure God says it all right there.

Life Blog

So.. let’s play catch up huh?

Monday I went to see an old friend. Lucy tagged along. Lookin all stylish.

I miraculously (yes, this was 100% God) found a thing I’ve been needing. Ok, let me explain. Lucy has this little giraffe. It’s made by Cloud B, called “Gentle Giraffe”. Target sells them. They are 22.99. It’s basically a stuffed animal with a sound machine stuck in the back of it. Except, instead of it playing for 10 minutes and turning off, it will play for either 23 or 45. By far the longest playing sound machine for a baby on the market (that I have found.. and boy did I search!)

Well, I bought Lucy the Giraffe “to-go” version (he’s about 8-10″ tall). The Big one (like 2 feet long) was like $35. I paid 23 bucks for it. Well, I was shopping at dirt cheap (back when it was still in Collins.. the glorious days…) and I found the big version of the giraffe. He was had been marked $12 somehow, and was 60% off. I then found the “Sleep Sheep” which is the giraffes.. cousin? Anyway, made by same company, same size sound box, different animal. Well, the big giraffe didn’t have the sound box, but the little sheep did! So I bought both. Got home and realized that the sound box for the sheep was.. a little kinky and it ended up not working 100% of the time. So.. Bust. Now I’ve got a giant giraffe, a sheep and no sound box.

So the other day I was looking online for a sleep sheep – for Judah. I know now how much that giraffe helps lucy sleep, so I figure, if $23 can get me more sleep.. then by golly, Imma pay $23. I was on ebay, thinking maybe someone was selling one used. Ya’ll know how much I like a deal! And by all means.. what did I find? A replacement sound box. That works. For $5. So I quickly googled the entire world wide web and found out that this was the only one for sale online.. anywhere. So I snatched that booger up.

Got it in the mail Tuesday, works like a stinkin charm! I had kept the sheep – so now, I got my Sleep Sheep for Judah!

Boom. That was a lot of talking to say I got a deal. But, you had to know the back story for this to be as amazing as it is.

And our chickens are laying eggs official style now. Monday we got 5 eggs, Tuesday 6 (I broke one), Wednesday 6 (Luc broke one) and when I went to close the coop last night, found another! (So technically Wed was 7 -1). I also found out by my chicken forum, that my blue egg layers (Easter Eggers) I thought only laid 3-5 eggs a week. But on there, asking around, most peoples Easter Eggers lay like 6 a week! And my Barred Rock hens, also can lay about 6 a week (I thought they were 4-5 per week). So now, we have 4 daily layers, and 6 hens that can be 6-7 eggs a week layers. And one, my pretty chicken, is still like a 3-4 a week gal. So we could possibly be getting like 10 eggs a day. Which is.. WAY more than I expected.

I had blue scrambled eggs this morning. 🙂

And my “rain boots” are officially my “coop boots” now. Do you see the little feather stuck to the back one? On the bottom of the boot? There are chicken feathers all in my yard.

And in case you were wondering.. I’m still pregnant. I feel good today though. Past couple of days I haven’t. But today I feel good. Also.. I felt good enough to take a picture for you all. The look on my face is not relative to how I feel. 😉

And because people always ask me to – I figured I’d show you a picture of my back. People get a kick out of how not pregnant I look, then when I turn around, how VERY pregnant I am. I’m carrying all out front if you hadn’t guessed.

And a good ole comparison picture. On the left, me at 36 weeks with Lucy. On the right, Today, 34 Weeks 5 days.

I think I’ve caught up to myself.

Ok.. Gonna take advantage of this good feeling (maybe I’m nesting?) and get some housework done!

Hope you had a great day yesterday!

Short post

Catching you up…

Since our very brief vacation – Lucy has been walking consistently better each day. She now, pretty much, chooses walking over crawling. She still topples forward or backward, but she is for real walking now. At 15 months.

She’s been (sorta) behind on a lot of stuff – at least based on most baby books – but she is very smart. She copies us on a regular basis.

Yesterday she tried to say “Hey Puppy” because I was saying it. It came out kinda like, “Heh gupah” but, she was trying.

She likes cheetohs.

And we’ve found a new show that she adores.

Its a british show about… a Farmer (named Farmer) and his sheep. The main character is Shaun, who is a (teenage?) sheep. He’s smaller than the rest of the sheep – but he’s not the baby. The baby is Timmy.

Lucy relates to Timmy. They both love their pacifiers.

Anyway – Shaun the sheep and all his sheep buddies are watched over by Bitzer – the sheep dog. And they are always gettin in trouble. But none of them talk. They just baa. The Farmer only grunts. There are pigs and some chickens too, and the evil Pidsley, which is the Farmer’s cat who is always out to get the sheep.

The sheep like to break into Farmer’s house when he goes to town and either eat all his jam or throw a party (complete with party hats).

Its really a cute show. Lucy gets mesmerized by it.

And its funny enough that we don’t mind watching it with her!

Lucy is getting big, too.

And, that’s about all for today.

Tomorrow is the Race for Grace 5K (3.11 mile) run in Hattiesburg that Wesley and I will both be doing. I’m not nervous – I know I can finish, I just want to have a good time. I’d like to beat 30 minutes, but the fastest 5K I’ve run in the past 3 years is 29:38. I’d loooove to beat that, but I’m not sure I can. My fastest 5K in the past 2 months is 30:28. I’ll be happy with anything below that. Shoot.. I’ll be happy to cross the finish line, but I would love to have a good time too.

Ok, I’ll let you know how it goes!

AND! I made a craft spot for myself. And I LOVE IT!

I can leave my craft stuff out (sorta) and my house still looks clean and organized. Its not on my kitchen table anymore! Pics to come.

Hope your weekend is AWESOME. And Cool too – since we are hoping!

Night 24 –

Yay! Wesley made it home! I’m so glad. I missed him. Lucy did too.

Yesterday was a weird day for me. She ate about 2 ounces from a bottle at like 10 am, and then when I came home for lunch, she didn’t eat. When I came home after school, she didn’t eat. Maybe she got 1/2 an ounce between the both. Then, we went to the movies, saw Life as We Know It, and it was very cute. Lucy ate just a little during the movie. Maybe 2 ounces again.

Now – she normally eats about 3 ounces every three hours. So you see my concern.

Then, on the way home, she started crying. She wouldn’t take a paci, music didn’t help, she just screamed. And screamed. And I had a hard time not going 100 miles an hour to get home to rescue her.

We got home and she was asleep. She woke up in about 15 minutes and we did bath and then I went to feed her again, and she ate. Finally. She ate good. Then she was asleep by 9:30. I was asleep by 10:30. She woke up at 4:30. YEP.

I was very excited. You may have seen my status from twitter: “Woah. That was pleasant.” at 4:51 after I had laid her back down. I felt good. I crawled back in bed and the family slept in until about 8:30. Then Wes woke up and we talked non stop about his trip until probably about 12. I desperately want to go next year. It sounded like so much fun.

We are praying about some big stuff. It was on his blog. He freaked me out when he posted:

“But I thank God for the wake up call, I forgot what it was like to live on faith, and tonight listening to Francis I realized that used to be my lifestyle but I’ve trade that for reasoning and living at financial ease. Needless to say me and Andrea have a lot to talk about when I get home haha.”

It wasn’t as scary as I thought it would be. And I’m all for it. We just have to make sure its what God wants from us. I’m pretty sure it is. But we have a while. I’ll let you know when/if its for sure.

We ate breakfast (thanks Huddle House for delicious French toast) then came home and took Lucy for a walk. Now she’s napping beside me. I played a little guitar. Which, now I have to decide what I want more: nails or guitar playing ability. One has to go. I don’t play much anymore, and now I have fingernails, so its impossible. Well, not impossible, but it sounds bad when my nails hang on a string. I’ll probably wait on cutting off my nails. I’ve wanted them since I was like 7 (Used to bite them really bad, but since Lucy, I stopped).

We are having a lazy day, and I’m glad. I’m still a little worn out from the past week. I’m glad about Monday and Tuesday being off. And then NEXT Saturday is ZOO DAY! I’m sooo excited. Lucy would be, but she is only 3 months old.

Here is something crazy – this time last year Wesley and I had just decided to maybe start thinking about having a baby. We decided to stop preventing in late August, early September. We conceived in October.
Then there was this:
12 weeks
Which turned into this:
30 weeks

That turned into this:

I’m glad its all over.

Who am I kidding… It’s all just beginning.
