A few weeks of catchup and a 2 year old.

It’s been a long while, and I’m very sorry. Almost a month.

Actually. I’m not.

I haven’t been doing nothing. I’ve been getting up early mornings and going for runs. I’ve been working and making money. I’ve been planning payments and figuring out how to collect credit card points (for lots of free stuff!). I’ve been working with our church’s VBS (for 9 days now!). And I’ve been fueling the mind of a four year old to try and be a giver, and been corralling an AAAALLLLMOOOST 2 year old little boy who’s had a little bit of an upset stomach for a few days. I’ve been doing laundry, cooking at every meal (we are trying to not eat out as much), cleaning the house. And that just about catches you up.

So the fact I haven’t blogged and I won’t have the passed month on my record books, I am very sorry about. I write and blog to try and remember my life. Not necessarily just for others to read. But I felt like I needed to blog today. I went outside to mail a letter, and my breath was taken away from me. And NOT because of the dang HUMIDITY of South Mississippi. It was COLD out.

Ok. Let’s put an asterisk by cold. It’s 62 out. And still July. So… basically… in Mississippi… That’s cold!

Lucy had woken up early and we sat and swang on our porch swing wrapped up in a blanket listening to the sounds of the morning. And I had that rush of mom feeling that you get from time to time… The love that you have for this person. And I used to have them more frequently, but I’ve gotten busy. And I didn’t really know Lucy. But I’m starting to know her, the real her, and see her personality coming through her 4 year old self. And she’s delightful. And I just held her and rocked her and we listened to the owls and the birds and the crickets for 20 minutes on this brisk July morning. It was fantastic. And just look at this face. Those eyes. She’s gonna be gorgeous when she’s grown up.

If you look closely you can still see her koolaid mustache from VBS.

The kids have all had quite a blast. And all the Adults are exhausted. So I guess that means we are doing it right.

What cute kids!

Mr. I-don’t-dance.

And last weekend we took Judah bike riding by himself. We let him get to be an only child for a little while, since Lucy was swimming with Mawmaw.

He wore himself out riding the bike trailer. Such hard work, y’know.

We’ve even done some fishing.

And a little bit of lazing around.

And I caught this out of my kitchen window… my sweet precious Lucy…

When I asked her what she was doing, she said, “Just plain with Ed!” She was hitting the ground like inches from her feet. So.. there’s no way Ms. Terrible-Aim would have hit the cat… but I made her stop anyway just in case. HAHA!

And finally.. my sweet baby boy turns 2 tomorrow. He was the best surprise of my entire life. And I’ve already taken his 24 month pics.

I mean.. his little poses…

He had just kissed a tree and then looked at me.

And his newest favorite face to make..

What a cute lil grump!

I would apologize for the mass of pictures in the blog today – but I’m assuming you won’t mind.

Have a great rest of July! August is coming!

22 and 23 Months

I took Judah’s 23 Month pictures a few days early (only 7). I’m usually a week behind, but the backyard was perfectly overcast, and he was still dressed from church, so I decided it was the perfect opportunity to get them done. I’ve only got one month to go and no more “monthly swing” pics! πŸ™ Sad that both my babies are so big. But also happy that they are so big. I never posted 22 months, so this post will have both. It’ll be Judah heavy.

22 Months Old

With his big sister photobombing a little bit…

And my goodness.. I can’t even describe the joy this little dude brings me.

I mean.. this face.

And this picture…

Reminds me of this picture…

(Lucy at 2 years old – her last set of swing pictures)

What a mischievous little grin!

And Lucy was willing to sit with him, so I got some Sibling pics too!

You can see the rest of my pics on my Flickr page.

And now for 23 Months!

What a sweetie pie.

I was running from him during these – so these aren’t smiles. They are full blown laughter.

And full blown cutie.

He’s such a sweet child. Loves cuddling, and hugs and kisses. He’s just the sweetest. Doesn’t play well alone, loves to be right by his sister. Which is just the sweetest… up until she shuts the door to her room to keep him out. Ha! Which happens.. daily. Overall, they get along great and miss each other when they are apart. Which is wonderful. I pray they are always close. That’s about it on pics today. Hope you liked them!

Marriage Monday: Parents // Birthday Party and 11 Months

β€œHonor your father and your mother, so that you may live long in the land the Lord your God is giving you.” (Exodus 20:12 NIV)

Here is something all parents want to say to their kids. They want this built into the structure of their kids’ bedroom written on the wall in huge letters, and every parent hopes it transfers into their kids’ heart.

Every time our kids disobey, we want to throw this verse at them. We want to be honored. I get it. I’m a parent.

But 3 1/2 years ago, I didn’t. Even pregnant, I didn’t get it.

And if you aren’t a parent, you don’t get it.

Not yet anyway.

The thing is – God cares about family. He cares about family structure. He wants it to be wonderful because he knows that it can be.

In the 10 commandments – you have 2 of them devoted to family order. The one we’re looking at today, and then “Don’t commit adultery”. Because God cares about marriage too.

If he didn’t care, he wouldn’t have carved it into stone.

If you are someones child reading this – and you are yet to leave the nest… Honor your parents. Don’t blatantly disobey. And honestly, if you are reading this, you probably aren’t the type of person that would blatantly disobey.

But here’s something – this is the only commandment with a promise. If you do honor your parents, he promises you a long life. That’s something. And once you have kids of your own, you’ll understand why that’s so important.

And then you’ll understand why it’s important to honor your parents.

As parents, we love our kids more than anything. Even in crazy situations, they are our top priority.

And why do I believe so strongly in family?

Because I think that becoming a parent is the closest way we will ever come to understanding God’s love. And I believe that is important to him. The more we understand him, the more we will see how he is about love.

I hope that was semi-understandable. I feel like it wasn’t clear but it’s important to get.

Life Blog

Last week was rough. We decided to sleep train Judah. Which meant crying it out. And he started officially teething, which makes it worse. I can tell when his cries are about his teeth and when they are about.. “Hold me hold me hold me”. And for the past 2 nights, I’ve gotten over 8 hours straight. I haven’t gotten that kind of sleep in like over a year.

And then Saturday was the birthday party!
Here are just a couple of high lights πŸ˜‰

I tried a pinterest thing.. And they turned out pretty cute!

I was blessed to have lots of family there. My kids had 4 different sets of grandparents, and one set of great grand parents there to celebrate their birthdays. They got some SUPER cute stuff.

Thank you to all who came out. It was successful. My kids now have too many toys again. They are so blessed and so loved.

And quickly – Judah’s 11 Month old pictures!

Devotional: Hebrews 12 // 9 Months Old

Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a huge crowd of witnesses to the life of faith, let us strip off every weight that slows us down, especially the sin that so easily trips us up. And let us run with endurance the race God has set before us. (Hebrews 12:1 NLT)

A lot of time we blame the sins in our lives for the situations we encounter. We blame the sin for us not being able to move forward in our walk.

We don’t realize that it isn’t the sin that’s preventing us from moving forward.. it is our lack of getting rid of that sin.

It is ultimately our choice if we decide to keep living in sin or not. Christ gives us all the resources we need to stop doing those sins that keep ‘tripping us up’. And yet, we don’t tap into those resources, we just fall back into sin, again and again.

Some things you can try:

1. Flee from the sin. We’ve talked about this before. You see the temptation arise. Turn around a go the other way. Physically. You see a person that you know you tend to fall into that sin with (ie, gossip, drinking, sex?) Then don’t be around that person. That isn’t easy, but it will work.

2. Focus on Christ. When the temptation arises, start talking to Jesus. Tell him what you are thankful for, especially the ability and power to defeat the sins in your life.

3. Read the Word. Seriously, pick up your bible and read it.

You can stop those sins. The bible tells us to strip them off. It wouldn’t tell us that if we were unable to.

Devotional: Psalm 82 // 5 and 6 Month pictures!

Your job is to stand up for the powerless, and prosecute all those who exploit them. Psalm 82:4

If we as Christians don’t stand up for those who can’t… who else will?

Human trafficking is a huge business currently. People here in America do not want to think about it, but it’s true. The sex slave industry is booming. And it is happening here as much as anywhere.

People, mostly younger people, are being sold like items to people around the world. Atlanta, because of it’s HUGE international airport is a hotspot for this kind of stuff.

If we don’t stand up for peoples rights, if we don’t try and do something, then no one else will. We know as Christians we are called to love. So if we love, then why aren’t we doing anything?

This was a brief one, I know. Look into some of these websites and see if there might be a way that you could help.
