Homeschooling, Regular Busy-ness, and my Mistake 4.5.17 – 4.14.17l

We’ve been having fun over the past few weeks. Also, quite busy.

We had our homeschool meeting, and did some super fun projects.

My nephew came over and we all played and ran and played until everyone was a stinky kid, just how I like it.

We took a trip to the zoo with our school and had fun with friends.

I did a little painting for a friend. You’ll see this make its first appearance tonight.

I looked at Judah, and I normally just see Judah, but this day I saw his daddy too. With his long shorts on. What a cutie.

With our Easter week stuff we got so busy- nonstop all week. You can see the projects we did over on our church Facebook page.

I did wanna include this one. The kids worked hard on cards for the residents at the nursing home, and they hand delivered them. The kids were proud and I think the residents loved it.

And my mistake? This week has been so non stop- as in get up early, get school prepped, school or work, then off to a project of some sort. I didn’t run all week (so now I feel like a slob) and then I saw these and made an impulse buy!

They are my favorite candy.

And so now, I need to go running, but the robins eggs are sitting on my counter… calling me… beckoning me come. I might. And I may just run out the door.

Anyway- we’ve got a few more Easter things scheduled so I’m off to get those going.

I hope your Easter weekend goes well!

072616 – 072916: Last Minute NOLA Trip

I admit, I love that we live close enough to NOLA to plan a last minute trip to the city.

And that’s what we did. We have a lot planned for Sunday, which is Judah’s actual birthday and so we wanted to go and do some thing as a family before his day.

So we set off to the zoo.

Gah, it was hot.

But the kiddos had a blast.

Then we went to our hotel and rode the trolley to dinner and took a nice stroll back to the hotel down St. Charles St in the garden district. We stopped at a local health food store and bought some imported and made in store candies.

Then we all crashed pretty early at about 9pm.

The next day we went into the French Quarter and I made my kids take a picture here.

It was hot this day too!

We met up with Papa J and Nana and they have Judah his birthday present a little early.

We got back on the road and headed towards home. We stopped in Slidell and ate lunch with my Aunt Mary and Uncle Earl which was very good and so much food! And we picked up my niece to get her back home too.

Before we left I got to watch my nephew for a little while. His little sweet self climbed right up into the chair with Lucy to watch her draw.

And in case you’re wondering, we did get the tree all cleaned up for the most part. Very little is left in the yard, so we are happy about the whole thing. And we saved about $1500 dollars doing it ourselves. We did have to buy little odds and ends, like chains and gas, but that was nothing compared to paying someone to do the job.

Hope y’all have had as an exciting week as we have!

Zoo day/Sick day and Blog announcement

Last week we took the kiddos to the zoo and aquarium in NOLA. They had a blast!

On the way down to the zoo we got a little surprise. Judah threw up in the car. And like.. it was everywhere. Like.. all over his clothes, all in the carseat. Even leaked out of the carseat. So when we got to the zoo he was already in his 2nd outfit.

Lucy ALMOST touched an alligator.

The orangutans performed for us.

So did the gorillas

The kids all climbed a tree.

Of course, Mawmaw was a hit with the kids 🙂

The cutest kiddos ever! Love these two.

Lucy in the “jungle”

And a jaguar. This thing was taller than Lucy.

Then we had lunch there and made our way to the aquarium.

Judah spilled his drink on himself in the car, so he was now on his 3rd outfit.

They were both VERY impressed with the aquarium.

Baby jellyfish.

In the Amazon…

In a speedboat…

Then Judah got all fussy, so I put him in his moby.

This picture was taken about 3 minutes before he vomited again. This time, all over me. You lose a lot of your modesty when you’re covered in puke. I got shirtless in a public restroom. I had to scoop throw up outta my bra. That was… unpleasant.

So then, I was wearing a zip up hoodie and Judah got to his 4th outfit… his sister’s jacket.

He didn’t mind because the penguins were so cute!

Then in the gift shop, he threw up again. So I carried a half naked baby out to the car. And he got into his 5th and final outfit. PJ’s!

The next day he was fine – and we cleaned up his carseat!

What a cutie!

Overall the day was great. After he’d throw-up he’d smile and play and run around. So… he still enjoyed the day. I bought a shirt because I was burning up and the last little vomit got me again. So I got a little souvenir too.

Overall our day was wonderful.

Now for the blog announcement. I started blogging a daily devotional April 16, 2012. That was 2 years ago this April. I’ve taken a few breaks (once when I had a baby…) but overall not a lot of time off from daily devotions. I’m going to stop doing daily devotions April 18, 2014. I’ll still blog about the kiddos and I’ll probably still do devotions from time to time when I have good stuff to share; but I’m not going to daily blog anymore. At least until I feel like God wants me to. I feel like he’s drawing me into a different time in my life and I’m going to start pouring in to me, instead of into others for a while.

I hope you understand. I have over 450 devotional blogs (When I stop blogging I’ll have over 500), so if you just started reading them in the past year – I still have quite a few that you haven’t read. So if you want to continue reading, I’ve got a few I can share with you. I know I have a lot of folks who read pretty regularly, and I’m sorry that I’m stopping. It’s hard for me to stop. They don’t do for me what they once did and I feel like that’s God telling me to stop. I still really enjoy my Marriage Monday blogs and will probably continue those after a short break (maybe a week or so). Thanks for understanding and being so supportive!

I love when people come up to me and say things like, “Your blog just hit the right spot today!” or things like that. Those help. I just need some me focus. Again – I’ll probably still do some devotions, just not every day.

Thanks for reading and growing with me for the past two years!

And don’t forget about the giveaway – still have til the end of today to get in on that!

MM: Women and (the lack of) Sex // Weekend Recap

Howdy ho there. Last time I posted the word ‘sex’ in my headline I had over double of my normal viewers… you dirty folks… So I figured I’d do it again and get my numbers up 😉 I kid, I kid. Again, today we are discussing sex, and in the context of a married man and wife. Not a dating couple.

Most men would agree that they do not get enough sex from their wives. Like we talked about a couple of weeks ago, it’s not just about frequency with me. It’s the want. Men need to know that their wife wants to be with them. And here’s the kicker – women are exactly the same. We just have a different way of needing that to be shown.

Here is a percentage for you guys from Shaunti and Jeff Feldhahn’s book, ‘For Men Only” that I want you guys to read and then re-read.

96% of women agreed with this statement: “Just because I do not want sex as often as he does, I still love him deeply and find him very attractive.”

75% of women said that they wanted less sex than their husbands also said it had nothing to do with his desirability, sexual prowess or general studliness.

Just because women don’t normally need as much sex as men do, is no indicator of their feelings for their spouse!

Here’s something else they said – Most guys would be thinking this – “I can’t imagine finding my wife attractive, being in love with her and not wanting to have sex with her often.”

Newsflash. Women and men are different.

There will be a few of these blog posts because I know this is an issue in a lot of marriages. We will address a couple today.

#1. Women generally have a lower sex drive than men. Women have less sexually assertive hormones, unlike men. This means women are less likely to initiate sex and less likely to crave sex.  It also means that outside disturbances can be a lot more distracting. For example: a noise from the kids, a headache or exhaustion. One woman put it like this: “For guys, it seems, sex provides relief or escape from exhaustion. For women, we have to pull ourselves out of exhaustion in order to have sex.”

Then they asked a big question. If you could change your sex drive to meet your husbands, would you?

EIGHTY-TWO percent said yes.

Among happily married couples the desire was almost 100%.

So guys – Women aren’t making up the headache stories, they aren’t trying to avoid you because they think you’re getting too pudgy around the middle. It’s not that. It is a biological thing. But there are things you can do to HELP her.

Which brings me to #2…

#2. She needs to mentally prepare. Guys have sex on like a light switch. One glance at wifey out of the shower and you’re ready. For the most part, women aren’t like that. Movies portray women as sexual bimbos who are ready whenever and wherever, if only the guy is man enough. That’s not true for like 98% of the female population. Women need a heads up.

You remember we talked about all those windows open in a womans head? All the things going on and in and around our head? Well, when we are heading to bed, those thoughts are all still in there. And like the story in this book, the husband rolls over and says, “Whatcha doing over there?” It takes a little longer for us to close all those windows and open up a new one than it does for men.

It’s not wrong that we are like this – God made us this way – but for the vast majority of women out there, this applies. One woman put it this way, “It’s like trying to stop a cruise ship that’s going full steam ahead and making it turn on a dime. I can’t quite turn off the day and do an about-face in the blink of an eye like he can.”

I know that’s sex overload… Haha! We’ll continue this one next Monday.

Life Blog

Whew. Glad that’s over… aren’t we all blushing now?

We had a good weekend. Friday I took Lucy and Judah to the Zoo. She played in the splashpad with her 2nd cousins. She had fun.

The jaguar was moving! We’ve only ever seen him asleep.

We rode the train.

And splashpad fun. Took her a while to get in it. Little Miss Precautious.

And then we rode the carosel. Lucy chose the tiger.

And she was a little freaked out by it.

But then she had fun.

And then Lunch at Wendy’s!

Overall it was a fun day.

Saturday we worked on our house. And that’s our plan for today as well. Hoping to see some good results by the end of today. Yay!

Have a great Monday!
